Need a Referral? We’ve made it simple. To be able to claim your Medicare rebates, you will need a referral from your General Practitioner (GP). Don't have one yet? Here is how you can get one:

1. Book a standard appointment with your regular GP.

2. Let them know you would like a referral to Altitude Mind Clinic. 

3. Provide them with our details. 

Not sure what to say to your GP? Feel free to copy this. "I would like to focus on my mental health and get an assessment. I've found a telehealth clinic called Altitude Mind Clinic that specialises in (ADHD, General Psychiatry, Anxiety, Depression, PTSD, OCD and Bipolar). Could you please write a referral addressed to them so I can book an initial consultation?"

Yes, a valid referral from your GP is required before you can book an appointment with our psychiatrists. If you do not currently have a referral, simply schedule a visit with your GP to discuss your mental health and request one.

We accept them.  Medicare allows you to use a valid referral (typically good for 12 months) even if it is addressed to another psychiatrist or clinic. Simply upload your current referral when booking, and our team will let you know if we need anything else.

Once we receive your referral, our clinical team will review it to ensure we are the right fit for your specific needs. Please allow up to 3 business days for this review process to be completed. Our administrative team will reach out to you with the next steps as soon as it has been processed.

We believe in complete transparency regarding the cost of your care. Full payment of the consultation fee is required at the time of booking to confirm your appointment. You can find a detailed breakdown of all initial and follow-up consultation costs on our Fees Page.

For our Australian patients, telehealth psychiatry appointments are eligible for Medicare rebates. To claim this rebate, you must have a valid GP referral and an active Medicare card. At Altitude Mind Clinic, we process your Medicare rebate electronically on your behalf immediately after your appointment.

Medicare Item Number 92435/291 

If you have consulted a psychiatrist sometime within the last 12 months, you must confirm the item numbers provided that apply to your situation. For instance, if you are planning to access treatment but have already used item 92435, your out-of-pocket expenses may be much higher than anticipated. Please keep in mind that it is the sole responsibility of the patient to confirm the eligibility of item numbers and Medicare rebates. You can verify this information by accessing your Medicare online account or by contacting Medicare directly at 132 011.

Medicare Rebate Processing Time

Once the rebate is submitted, Medicare will usually take up to 72 hours to deposit the amount into your registered bank account, as long as your details are correctly set up with them. If the rebate has not been processed within this timeframe, you can contact Medicare directly at 1300 360 460 to check your claim status and verify your bank account details. Should you need a copy of your invoice, receipt, or Medicare statement, let us know, and we will email it to you.

• Medicare Safety Net

Medicare Safety Nets are government-funded programs designed to help individuals and families reduce their out-of-pocket medical expenses (including specialist appointments) covered by Medicare. When you spend over a certain amount in a calendar year, Medicare will give you a higher amount back.

Full payment of the consultation fee is required at the time of booking to confirm your appointment.

We understand that life can sometimes be unpredictable, and plans may need to change. To ensure we can continue providing high-quality care to all our patients, we have established the following policy:

1. Cancellations or Appointment Changes
   • If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, we kindly request at least 3 business days' notice.
   • Cancellations or changes made with less than 3 business days' notice will incur a cancellation fee of 50% of the original consultation fee.
   • Please note the credit card processing fee will be deducted from your refund amount.

The cancellation fee must be made in full before your appointment. You cannot receive a Medicare rebate on cancellation fees.

At Altitude Mind Clinic, we are not a bulk billing service. Please refer to the appointment fees and rebates for each practitioner. 

Absolutely. You are still welcome to book an appointment and receive care at Altitude Mind Clinic without a Medicare card. Please note that in this case, you will be responsible for the full private fee for the consultation and will not be eligible for a Medicare rebate.
